GUWAHATI: The Pratibandi Suraksha Sangstha, Assam (PSSA) insisted that the number of vacant positions reserved for the PWD (Persons with disabilities) in various departments under the state government should be provided to the police recruitment board within a week. If the request is not complied with, PSS announced that they would resort to severe protests.

A delegates meeting was organized on Wednesday, where the decision to provide the list of vacant positions reserved for the PWD in various departments under the state government to the police recruitment board was taken. PSSA Secretary Nripen Malakar said, “The CM has on various occasions talked about his contribution towards the aid of the PWD. It is time that he proved his words on the field and work towards our cause. Under the State government, there are 4419 vacant posts in 54 departments however, appointment processes of only 868 posts in just 23 departments have been initiated”.

Malakar further stated that on December 21, 2018, the PSSA held a meeting with Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal who affirmed that within a week, the list of vacant positions reserved for the PWD in various departments under the state government to the police recruitment board would be released. However, till date, the same has not been done.

“In 21 districts, 534 third and fourth grade posts under the Secondary Education Department were supposed to be reserved for the PWD however, only 20 appointments were made. As such, we hold the demand that within a week, the rest 514 positions are appointed”, said Malakar.
