GUWAHATI: The global competitiveness of Atmanirbhar Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) of Assam bolsters its competitive advantage with leaner and nimble infrastructure and services industry of the region, experts opined in a webinar organised by Press Information Bureau, Guwahati on the topic here on Tuesday. A galaxy of experts from industry fraternity, government sector along with academicians deliberated and discussed about the potential of SMEs from industry and policy perspective.
Sunil Bajpai, Principal Advisor at TRAI said that services sector along with telecommunication sector are changing the dynamic of market and the potential marketability of products of SMEs. Bajpai said that data, information and knowledge driven industries are leveraging the potential of technology and communication to market products. He said that the initiatives such as Make in India, Startup India and Stand up India, Van DhanYojana for tribal products are game-changers in the market arena.
YGSC Kishore Babu, Deputy Director General, Department of Telecommunications, Ministry of Communications said that telecommunication provides the infrastructure for SMEs. He said that it is pertinent that services sector along with other tertiary sectors are also providing the competitive advantage to the manufacturing sector by better service delivery with effective and efficacious quality of services.
The webinar was planned and coordinated by SamratBandyopadhyay, Joint Director (M&C), PIB, Guwahati. PallavChakravorty, Deputy Director, PIB welcomed the experts as the webinar delved into details on the various aspects of the topic such as potential of SMEs in Assam. Along with students, eminent journalists and other government senior officials from Doordarshan Guwahati, Regional Outreach Bureau, Guwahati, All India Radio Guwahati were also present on the occasion.
