GUWAHATI: Latasil Police detained four more persons for the murder of a temple priest in one of the Railway's staff quarters in the Paltan Bazar Railway Colony area at around midnight on Thursday. The police had also detained two persons on the day of the murder. Initial reports indicate that injury marks have been found on the deceased's head.

The murdered priest identified as Narayan Chakraborty hailed from Cooch Behar in West Bengal. He came to Guwahati four years back. He stayed with his wife in the quarter where the body was discovered. The quarter has been allocated to a Railway's employee who is currently out of the station.

A case (370/2021 IPC-302) has been registered.

On Thursday, police had detained a neighbour of the couple. The priest's wife is also being questioned. Guwahati Latasil Police said that forensic investigations were initiated at the crime scene after midnight on Thursday.
