GUWAHATI: The Assam State Primary Teachers Association (ASPTA) decided to exit the WhatsApp group of the Cluster Resource Centre Coordinator (CRCC). General Secretary Ratul Chandra Goswami of the Association said today that the teachers will be leaving the social media handle of the CRCC. They have decided to do so as the CRCC has been uploading data from teachers’ profiles. Goswami said, "Our main demand was the creation of the headmaster posts, which the government has still not met. As the headmaster post has not been created, we, the primary teachers, will not involve ourselves in any of the new duties of the Education Department. So, we also opposed the Shiksha Setu Programme. And for that reason, we returned the tablets on May 22 to the Block Elementary Education Officers (BEEOs)."
Now, again, the Education Department has decided to observe ‘data update week’. And per this, if the teachers do not cooperate, then the salary of the teachers concerned will be withheld. He alleged that the CRCC has been uploading the teachers’ profiles without their knowledge.
Goswami said, "Teachers are well performing their academic duties, not only the new works from the department but also all other works. And if now the department decides to withhold the salary of the teachers, then we will demonstrate, "No pay, no work." And if there are any losses in the educational session of the students, the Education Minister will be responsible for them."
