GUWAHATI: The Sadou Asom Biskhek, TET (2021) Uttirna Santha staged a protest in front of the SSA (Sarba Siksha Abhiyan) Directorate office on Thursday. Kamal Pathak, the secretary of the Santha, said a special TET exam was conducted on October 3, 2021, for the registered 14,575 candidates bearing a unique ID. They were working under SSA on contractual basis. The result of the exam was announced on November 3, and among them, 667 candidates could only pass the exam. The then Education Minister, now Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, promised that eligible candidates would be appointed. But until now, there has been no news of recruiting them.
The present Education Minister, Ranoj Pegu, said that these candidates would not be recruited. On the other hand, when the union members met the Chief Minister, he promised that the candidates who passed would be appointed.
Both of the ministers’ verses don’t seem to align, which has made the protestors think and be in a confused state. The protestors have questioned, If states like Bihar and Tripura can recruit, then why not Assam? They want to know the main reason for taking so long to recruit the candidates.
