GUWAHATI: Assam Jatiya Parishad (AJP) submitted a memorandum to the Chief Minister of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma for providing free mass Covid-19 vaccination programme to the citizens.
The memorandum also stated that "apart from the Covid patients, the lives of poor and daily bread earners have been affected badly. It has therefore become expedient and necessary that the Government takes some very meaningful, intelligent and effective steps so that the citizens are sensitized, cared and protected from the pandemic."
Further the memorandum said, "With only a small section of the people are digitally literate and since there are lack of resources and facilities for online registration for vaccine the present system of online registration is not going to be very effective. It is therefore urged that, the State Govt. should work out a detailed plan for offline registration through the Panchayat system and ground level health workers so that everyone including the poor and illiterate people are also covered under the universal free vaccination drive."
It is also suggested that state government may like to design/ chalk out Covid care and management plan for every village and town ward with the help of responsible citizens and health workers. There may be emergency Covid care centre in every such village/ town ward with attachment of a designated hospital and ambulance and control room so that any emergency can be tackled without any loss of lives.
Also with curfew and lock down is on and as per Covid Protocol people should stay inside their homes unless there is an emergency, government should provide all medical assistance and care including vaccination at their homes so that social distance norms are effectively maintained.
The newly formed party also alleged that there are numerous complaints that Covid 19 patients treated in private hospitals/ nursing homes in different parts of the state have been heavily billed compared to the services and under such circumstances people are economically crippled. It is therefore, urged that Government should regulate the Covid care and treatment in private facilities and fix up rates so that people are able to afford the treatment.
