GUWAHATI: The officials and staff of the Railway Protection Force (RPF) and the Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) carried out a weeklong fortress check in the Guwahati Railway Station from June 4 to June 8.

The checking was conducted with the aim of preventing the entry of unauthorized persons into the railway station, detecting passengers travelling without tickets, and stopping other irregularities like the parking of vehicles in no-parking areas.

During the course of this drive, 81 cases were registered regarding ticketless passengers. Fines worth Rs 10947 were realised, while penalties worth Rs 20,250 were levied. 50 cases were registered regarding violations of the Railways Act, including Sections 155 and 159 of the Act. 27 cases of littering were detected, and a fine of Rs 7,500 was realized, and Rs 1,500 was realised as a fine for 10 cases of smoking.

Local autorickshaw and cab drivers were also made aware not to park their vehicles in no-parking areas of the railway station.
