GUWAHATI: What started as light, intermittent showers in the morning hours turned into a steady, heavy downpour towards evening in the city on Monday, after cloudy weather prevailed since Sunday due to the influence of Cylone Sitrang.
The temperature also dipped perceptibly in the city overnight.
However, revelers braved the weather and started bursting crackers on a considerable scale long before darkness set in.
Meanwhile, Kali Puja was also celebrated in the city on Monday. Various brightly illuminated pandals dotted the city and the sound of dhaks (drums) reverberated in almost all areas of the city.
