Rajya Sabha poll: BJP sends candidates’ list to party high command

GUWAHATI: The State BJP has sent a list of five probable candidates to party high command for the Rajya Sabha election slated to be held on March 26, 2020 in the State. Now the ball is at the party high command’s court to name probably one candidate which the party is sure on win.

Talking to the media on Sunday, State BJP president Ranjeet Kumar Dass said that the five probable candidates are Bhubaneswar Kalita, Rajen Gohain, Ramen Deka, Sankar Chandra Das and Subhash Dutta.

The Rajya Sabha poll is going to be held for three seats in Assam. Since the State BJP has already decided to leave one of the seats for its ally BPF, it is sure to win one of the remaining two seats.

Meanwhile, BJP’s national general secretary Ram Madhab, talking to the media, said that the party is going to name its candidates for the Rajya Sabha poll within a day or two. Expressing his confidence of the BJP coming to power at Dispur in 2021, Madhab said, “The State government has done many good works during its term. The BJP will make it to Dispur again with the strength of its good deeds.”

Madhab further said, “We hope to make it to Kolkata also in the next Assembly election. Home Minister Amit Shah has already addressed a number of rallies in West Bengal.”
