Retired officer of Gauhati High Court Bijan Lal Choudhury passes away

GUWAHATI: Bijan Lal Choudhury, a retired officer of the Gauhati High Court and a resident of Gandhi Basti here, passed away on Wednesday at his residence. Born in1953, Choudhury was serving as the honorary chairman of Upahar, an NGO based in Guwahati, and was also the president of the Assam Silpi Sanmilani. He was also a noted playwright was one of the founder members of Jyotirupa, an Assamese drama festival..

He was also an active member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He worked immensely for the development of society and Assamese art and culture. He leaves behind his wife and two sons.
