GUWAHATI: The Rozgar Mela-cum-certificate distribution ceremony of the Samarth Scheme was organized by the AVACreations Social Impact Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, on September 2. The event was graced by Kumar Nityanand, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Textiles, Government of India, who attended as the Chief Guest. Dr. Kartik Neog, Director, Muga Eri Silkworm Seed Organisation, Central Silk Board, Guwahati, and Dr. Siddique Ali Ahmed also graced the occasion as guests of honour and special guests, respectively.
During this ceremony, a total of 107 trainees were awarded their training certificates, recognizing their dedication, hard work, and commitment towards learning and upskilling. These trainees underwent rigorous training programmes in various sectors of the textile industry, including silk handloom weaving.
The SAMARTH Scheme, a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Textiles, aims to skill, train, and empower the youth by providing them with employable skills in the textile sector. With a strong focus on creating sustainable livelihoods, this scheme has been instrumental in strengthening the textile industry and providing employment opportunities in rural and semi-urban areas. The Rozgar Mela-cum-certificate distribution ceremony was a testament to the success and impact of this initiative.
Kumar Nityanand, in his address, commended the trainees for their perseverance and showcased the government's commitment to supporting skill development programs. Dr. Kartik Neog, the Guest of Honour, highlighted the importance of sustainable textile practices and the need to promote indigenous silk like Muga Eri. Dr. Siddique Ali Ahmed, as the Special Guest, appreciated the inclusive approach of the SAMARTH Scheme, which empowers individuals from marginalised communities and provides them with equal opportunities.
