RPF seizes drugs worth crores at Guwahati Railway Station

GUWAHATI: The Railway Protection Force (RPF) seized drugs worth over Rs 5 crore last year at Guwahati Railway Station, which proves that the contraband of drugs is also carried out by the trains via Guwahati. Among these were foreign cigarette 98484 sticks were recovered worth Rs 1.4 crore, 473.9 kg suspected cannabis worth Rs 48.34 lakh, 318 bottles of liquor of different brands worth Rs 84,456, 1.919 kg brown sugar/heroin worth Rs 3.11 crore, 700 gm morphine worth Rs 70 lakh, liquid cash 1,48,30,600 and 5940 Yaba tablets worth Rs 5.94 lakh were recovered. Also, the RPF rescued 194 children last year, among whom there were 134 boys and 60 girls. Later, they were handed over to the Railway child Line.
