GUWAHATI: 'Sadbhavana Divas' was observed across the State on Friday. It is observed on the 77th birth anniversary of late Rajiv Gandhi, former Prime Minister of India.
The APCC (Assam Pradesh Congress Committee) also observed the occasion at Rajiv Bhawan — the Congress HQs (Headquarters) here. Floral tributes were paid at the bust of late PM Rajiv Gandhi at the party HQs. A blood donation camp was also organised by the NSUI at the premises.
The meeting held on the occasion was presided over by senior Congress leader and former MP Dijen Sarma. Addressing the gathering as guest speaker, MP (Member of Parliament) and senior journalist Ajit Kumar Bhuyan paid rich tributes to late PM Rajiv Gandhi. Bhuyan also recollected the contributions of the late PM to the nation.
The meeting was also attended by senior Congress leaders, former Minister Sarat Borkotoki and MLAs Rekibuddin Ahmed, and Abu Saleh Nizamuddin besides several other office bearers of the APCC and a host of party workers.
SADBHAVANA DIWAS AT NFR HQs: The 'Sadbhavana Diwas' was observed at the NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) HQs (Headquarters) in Maligaon on Friday. On the occasion, railway staffers and officers were present. The day is observed every year to encourage national integration and communal harmony amongst people of all religions, languages and regions.
During the occasion, SDGM (Senior Deputy General Manager) of NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) Boniface Lakra administered the 'Sadbhavana' pledge to all the railway staffers and officers of NFR Headquarters to work for the emotional oneness and harmony of all the people of India regardless of caste, region, religion or language and to resolve all differences through dialogue and constitutional means without resorting to any violence.
All preventive measures and guidelines related to COVID-19 were followed during the occasion, stated a press release.
