GUWAHATI: All units of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal) under Frontier Guwahati, the CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) units and the NSG (National Security Guard) under the North East sector organized 'Plantation Drives' in their respective locations across Assam.
Inspector General Frontier SSB Guwahati, Sanjeev Sharma launched the 'Frontier-level plantation drive' at the Goabari BOP (Border Out Post) of 24th Bn SSB, Rangia on Sunday.
Subsequently, SSB, Frontier Headquarters, Guwahati (Assam) conducted the plantation drive at the premises of the 1st Bn SSB, Sonapur campus, at around 0730 hours. The occasion was which was graced by the DIG, SSB, Frontier Guwahati, Sonam Bodh along with the Commandant of 1st Bn SSB, Shiv Dayal, and other senior officers. All officers and officials actively participated in the plantation drive to promote and contribute to the greater objective of 'Clean & Green India'.
Around 1,100 saplings of various ornamental, fruit-bearing and medicinal varieties were planted during this drive. Altogether 368 SSB personnel with 109 families and civilians were participated in the programme.
Apart from its regular border-guarding duties, the SSB is also actively involved and committed to such initiatives for the protection of environment in its area of deployment, stated a release by the PRO (Public Relations Officer) of Frontier Headquarters SSB, Guwahati, Saroj Upadhyaya.
CISF PROGRAMME: A 'Sanrakshika' programme and also a tree-plantation drive were organised at the CISF North East Sector HQrs in Guwahati on Sunday. Sanrakshika vice-president Seema Singh inaugurated the 'Sanrakshika Udyan and Poudhashala' in the presence of Gayatri Sharma, executive members of Sanrakshika and other Sanrakshika members of the NES HQrs Guwahati.
'Sanrakshika' is a significant component of CISF. It is engaged in creating awareness about the challenges which the families of CISF personnel face, while the spouses are away on duty in
various parts of the country. 'Sanrakshika' is responsible for creating a positive environment for members of the CISF families and providing welfare amenities to them. During 2021, the CISF planned to plant 6,00,00 saplings in all the CISF units; and in the sapling-plantation drive on Sunday, a total of 14,685 saplings were planted. During 2020, the CISF planted 61,853 saplings in its units across the NER (North East Region).
Mentionably, the CISF has undertaken various community outreach programmes like the 'Swachh Bharat Mission', 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan' and the 'Fit India Mission' among others from time to time to make the public aware of various initiatives of the government.
Simultaneously, Anjani Kumar Singh IG/NES, CISF, Sidhartha Sankar Sarmah, DIG/NEZ, CISF, Harendra Narayan, Gp Commandant, CISF Gp. HQrs, Guwahati, Prem S Thokchom, AIG/NES, NPS Mung, Dy. Commandant/NEZ, CISF and Pratap Singh Dagar, Assistant Commandant, Group HQRs Guwahati also planted saplings in this complex in the presence of other officials.
It is also noteworthy that the CISF men staying in the barracks have made significant contribution in creating a beautiful world by planting saplings in innovation ways in the spaces available within their barracks. The exquisite bamboo vases holding the enchanting plants speaks volumes about the creativity of our CISF Jawans.
In the North East Region, 26 CISF units are scattered across States of Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur Nagaland and Tripura including the airports. These units are mostly responsible for providing security cover to OIL Fields, OIL pumping station, Refineries and hydropower projects. CISF has been engaged in various community development programmes in the North East Region like the 'Swacha Bharat Mission', 'Jal Shakti Abhiyan', 'Fit India Mission' and 'Ek Bharat Shrestha Bharat' under 'Swacha Bharat Mission' and the 'jal Shakti Abhiyan'. The CISF Units in Upper and Lower Assam have organized cleanliness drive and awareness campaigns.
NSG PROGRAMME: Saplings were planted as a part of the NSG (National Security Guard) Mega Plantation Drive-2021' at the premises of Kali Mata Mandir, Basistha here on Sunday.
Mukesh Kasana TF Commander, A/W SH Santosh Kumar T/C, AC-I Devkinandan Sehgal, AC-I Vinod Kumar, AC-I Gulshan Kumar and other Rangers of TF NSG Guwahati participated in this drive and planted saplings of Arjun, Jamun, Gulmoher and other plants. Beside the plantation drive, the personnel also carried out a cleanliness drive in the mandir area. They also took oath to save the Mother Nature by participating in such nation-building drives in the future, stated a press release.
