GUWAHATI: Amidst the ongoing protest against the CAA (Citizenship Amendment Act) and the recent controversy regarding the formation of an Islamic Sahitya Sabha (ISS), the central committee of the Muslim Students’ Union of Assam (MSUA) said that it will keep raising its voice demanding scrapping of the anti-Assam CAA and the ISS.
Addressing a press meet at Dispur Press Club here on Friday, the MSUA leadership said, “The MSUA has always been supporting the Assam Accord, and it’ll continue to respect the accord. The government can’t do anything as per its own whims. The people of Assam will never bow down to Bangladeshis.” The union further demanded people’s court in each village to solve the long-standing issue of D-voters. The MSUA added that “the Axam Xahitya Xabha is the pride of Assam and the Assamese, which is a part of the greater Assamese society. So there’s no need for an Islamic Sahitya Sabha.” The leadership of the MSUA claimed that forming an Islamic Sahitya Sabha is a political conspiracy to fulfil some political agenda that is aimed at creating discrimination among Hindus and Muslims, and the MSUA will never let it happen.
