GUWAHATI: SBI has organized a mega-credit camp commemorating International Women’s Day on Monday at Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra, targeting women’s empowerment in rural areas. Approximately 1000 members of Self-Help Groups (SHG) attended the camp from different districts of Assam, like Nagaon, Morigaon, Bongaigaon, Nalbari, Kamrup (Rural), and Kamrup (M). Vincent M.D., Chief General Manager of SBI, Guwahati Circle, inaugurated the credit camp in the presence of Suranjana Dutta, General Manager (Network-I).
A total of 742 Self-Help Groups were sanctioned loans amounting to Rs 10.48 crore for pursuing different activities such as handloom and handicrafts, animal husbandry and fisheries, and other economic activities.
SBI also sanctioned 17 women beneficiaries under the Stand Up India, PMMY, and PMEGP schemes, facilitating their self-employment. Dipankar Boruah, project officer for the FI Assam State Rural Livelihood Mission, also attended the meeting, stated a press release.
