GUWAHATI: Shishu Sarothi held a three-day Inclusive Summer Camp for children with and without disabilities from July 11 to 13.

According to a press release, more than 60 children took active part in a host of fun activities like Zumba dancing, art and craft skills of tie and dyeing, and inclusive games that involved mind and body coordination, interactive storytelling sessions and collectively cooking without-fire as they made a delicious fruit salad for all the participants at the end of the day.

Parents, especially mothers, also participated in the camp as enthusiastically as the children as a welcome way of beating the scorching summer heat of these three days. Inclusion in leisure time activities increases socializing skills and boosts self-esteem among the children and leads to a better sense of community and belonging.

This is the second year running that such a summer camp was organized and although last year's camp was held online due to the pandemic situation, the children, teachers and parents had thoroughly enjoyed that experience as well..
