GUWAHATI: Noted actor Rina Bora has been named for the Silpi-Sainik Brajanath Sarma Award, 2020. The award will be given away to the actor on September 12, 2020 at a function under the aegis of the Directorate of Culture Affairs, Assam at Sorbhog by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.

The award, instituted in 2017, carries Rs 2 lakh cash, a citation and an angabastram.

Born at Sakmuthi Gaon in Kaliabor in 1953, actor Rina Bora is now a resident of Jorhat. She has been associated with mobile theatre since 1960s. She joined Nataraj Theatre in 1965-66 as a dance artiste, later she acted in a number of mobile theatres – Purbajyoti Theatre, Asom Star Theatre, Suradevi Theatre, Kohinoor Theatre, Abhan Theatre, Hengul Theatre etc. She also acted in a number of Assamese feature films including Putulaghar, Dhrubatara, Bukur Majat Jwale, Hiya Diya Niya, Nayak, Mon, Akashitarar Kothare, Hridoy Kopua Gaan, Laaj, Monjai, Jetuka Pator Dore, Bonhimaan, Gaane Ki Aane, Jed, Ratnakar etc. She also acted in some amateur drama and TV serials. She has a number of awards to her credit.
