Smuggled cattle seized, 5 arrested by East Guwahati Police District

GUWAHATI: A team of the East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from the Sonapur Police Station intercepted a container truck carrying 35 cattle on Sunday morning and arrested five persons in this connection.Police sources identified the arrested cattle smugglers as Mohammed Nuruddin, Mohammed Samar Ali (both of Nagaon district), Mohammed Kamal Hussain, Abu Taher Khan and Saddam Sheikh (all three of Sonapur in Kamrup (M) district).

According to the sources, the cattle were being smuggled from Dhemaji en route to Meghalaya.
