GUWAHATI: In light of the increasing number of robberies and chain-snatching incidents, another chain snatcher was injured in a police firing while trying to escape from police custody in the Amsing in Jorabat area on Wednesday early morning. The snatcher is identified as Amir Ali (34) from Simna Phuturi in Kamrup district. He is undergoing treatment at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH).

According to police sources, Hatigaon police arrested Amir Ali and on interrogating him, he confessed that another person was also involved in robbery activities. Amir Ali disclosed the location and other person involved in snatching and took the police to that area. After reaching the spot, tried to escape, to which the police shot at him in the right leg, leaving him injured.

Meanwhile, two days earlier, another snatcher Arjun Shah was also shot at police firing.
