Spa saloons under the scanner of Guwahati Municipal Corporation

GUWAHATI: Following charges from various quarters that some spas and saloons operating in the city are flouting norms and also carrying on various illegal activities, the GMC (Guwahati Municipal Corporation) is maintaining strict vigil over these business establishments. During the last few days, the Health & Enforcement Branch of GMC conducted several raids at spa saloons.

Sources informed that 'Waves Spa and Saloon' located at the Lachit Nagar area was sealed as they failed to show proper valid trade licences to the GMC officials.

A GMC official said, "We will nab all persons flaunting the GMC rules and bylaws", adding the department will be more strict than before and no excuse will be accepted at any cost.

He pointed out, "Earlier the GMC had issued a notice to all the spa and saloons over the non-renewal of NOC (No Objection Certificate) and asked them to take the necessary steps to avail of trade licence.
