GUWAHATI: The stage is set for celebration of India's 76th Independence Day in a grand manner across the State on Monday.

Amidst the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign evoking overwhelming response since yesterday, the 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav' will reach a crescendo tomorrow. The Tricolour was seen fluttering not only from Government offices, but from households, business establishments and private vehicles since yesterday.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma will hoist the national Flag at the Khanapara Veterinary College playground at 9 am and then address the people of the State.

On the other hand, Cabinet Minister Ranjit Kumar Dass will hoist the Tricolour at Bongaigaon, Nandita Gorlosa at Barpeta, Jayanta Mallbaruah at Nalbari, Chandra Mohan Patowary at Kamrup, Pijush Hazarika at Nagaon, Keshab Mahanta at Golaghat, Ranoj Pegu at Dhubri, Atul Bora at Dibrugarh, Jogen Mohan at Lakhimpur, Sanjay Kishan at Darrang, Ashok Singhal at Sonitpur, Bimal Borah at Sivasagar, Ajanta Neog at Jorhat, Parimal Suklabaidya at Cachar and Urkhao Gwra Brahma at Biswanath.

Security has been beefed up across the State in view of the bandh called by ULFA-I on the Independence Day celebrations.

Meanwhile, talking to the media, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma requested the public to keep their respective National Flags at their homes and offices with due respect after dusk tomorrow.
