Statewide Protest by Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) For CAB

GUWAHATI: Amidst the increasing uproar over the implementation of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB), the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) staged a State-wide protest for seven hours on Friday, at Dispur Last Gate. Ex Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi, leader of opposition Debabrata Saikia, several other MLAs and ex ministers participated in the programme.

The APCC in a press communiqué stated that the party will stage a dharna at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi on December 13, demanding the cancellation of CAB, the perseverance of NRC, increase in the remuneration of tea workers and demand for ST status of six communities. The next day, the Committee will participate in a ‘Bharat Bachao’ rally at Ramleela Maidam in Delhi, where various party leaders will engage.
