GUWAHATI: A joint team of the Special Task Force (STF) and Bureau of Investigation (Economic Offences), Assam conducted a raid at a grocery shop in Ghoramara on Saturday and recovered 43 LPG cylinders that were kept illegally. The team arrested the owner of the grocery shop, identified as Jogesh Kalita. A case (20/2023) has been registered at the BI (EO) police station.

On the other hand, a joint operation was launched by the STF, Assam, and Basistha Police Station to bust the illegal transportation of Burmese Supari on Friday evening. The joint team intercepted a Tata LP truck bearing registration AS 01 GC 0756 at Beherbari Police Station. The team seized contraband Burmese supari in 28 bags weighing 1400 kg, which had been transported concealed in separate chambers. In connection with this, two people have been apprehended, identified as Ramen Basumatary and Dipak Basumatary. Further investigation has been carried out.
