GUWAHATI: A Class-IX student from Guwahati has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi requesting him to include free self-defense training in school curriculum all over India. Minakshi Singha, a student of Pragjyotish Senior Secondary school, Boragaon, Guwahati sent the letter to PM Modi on Wednesday by speed post. In the letter, the 15-year-old stated, "At a time when cases of attack and violation are on the rise, I am requesting you to include free self-defence training for girls in school curriculum all over the country, so that girls are taught about the self-defence, which will instill confidence in them and protect them in the time of need."

Minakshi Singha is a Wushu athlete and she organizes free self-defence training workshop for girls every Sunday in the Maligaon area under the guidance of her master Sifu Gopi Singh Lama for the last one year.
