GUWAHATI: The Board of Secondary Education, Assam, has announced that all the students who have failed the HSLC examinations this year and want to proceed with further studies, must take a re-admission for regular classes in Class X. And only then will they be able to appear for the subsequent examinations.

Candidates can be admitted to the same schools or, if that is not possible, to a different school under the same centre from which they appeared for the HSLC examination in 2023. There will be no change in the registration numbers, and the same will be used in the subsequent examinations. They can change their elective subjects if they want, but that has to be done before the half-yearly examinations. The schools will make the necessary arrangements for the assessment of the practicals and send the practical or internal marks to SEBA as per the rules. They will also have to appear for the half-yearly examinations; failure to do so will disqualify them from appearing in the following examination.

For the other subjects, the detailed break-up is: unit tests (20%), half-yearly 25 per cent and annual or revisionary 50 per cent weightage of theory marks and 100 per cent of IA marks to be taken for the annual or revisionary exam.

All mark sheets have to be uploaded by the schools to the SEBA portal, and the answer sheets must be shared with the students and parents. And from the 2023–24 session, all examinations in English, mathematics, science, and social science will be conducted in a new format.
