Suspected Brown Sugar Seized, Woman Arrested

GUWAHATI, Sept 5: Acting on a tip off, the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Guwahati in a joint operation with the Government Railway Police (GRP) on Tuesday arrested a woman identified as Momiran Begum (20) from near west cabin of the Gauhati railway Station allegedly for peddling suspected brown sugar. During the checking, the RPF recovered 9 small bottles of suspected brown sugar from her possession which wrapped inside her Salwar. The RPF also recovered one purse containing cash Rs 11,000 along with one Samsung J2 mobile phone. She hails from Jyoti Nagar under Goalpara police station. The value of the seized drugs is said to be of worth Rs 18,000. Later, she was handed over to the GRP for necessary action and a case (No 242/2018 U/S 22(B) NDPS ACT) has been registered.
