GUWAHATI: The members of the Asom Rajyik Prathamik Shikshak Sanmilani (ARPSS) gheraoed the residence of Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal here on Friday.
They demanded the creation of headmasters' posts and repayment of the reduced grade pay of Rs 8,700 from graduate teachers. The protestors also demanded the Government to release the grade pay and bonus of the contractual teachers.
Thousands of teachers gathered at Lokhara's Uddyan Kristi Sangha field to demonstrate and show their resentment against the Government. The teachers' body underlined that they have taken a pledge to continue their stir and will take stage protests in the national level until their demands are met.
