Governor attends silver jubilee celebrations of Sankardev Sishu & Vidya Niketan

GUWAHATI: Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi said, "The purpose of school education is to produce good and productive citizens and make the society even better for the next generation".

Addressing the students in the closing function of the silver jubilee celebration of Sankardeva Sishu/Vidya Niketan in the city today, Prof. Mukhi said that since today's students are likely to become tomorrow's leaders in their chosen walks of life, the schools need to create a bend of mind among the students helpful for the creation of intellectual excellence. The Governor also said that schools must endeavour to develop such an educational system which will be conducive for all-round development of the students physically, emotionally, mentally, intellectually and spiritually.

On the occasion of completion of 25 years of the school, Governor Prof. Mukhi congratulated the entire fraternity of Shankardev Sishu/Vidya Niketan including its teachers on disseminating their services in the field of knowledge dissemination. He also thanked the faculty members of the school for providing all opportunities and challenges which enabled their students to inculcate in them values, commitments and services for manifesting a knowledge driven society.

The Governor also thanked the visionary persons that is the founders of Shankardev Sishu/Vidya Niketan to have taken the pain to establish the school way back in 1979 and named it after the most revered spiritual guru of the land Srimanta Sankardeva. He also said that the school over the years has been working to render education based on the values of inspiring social awareness, honesty, moral education, peace and brotherhood. The Governor hailed the teachers of the school for forging a healthy relationship among the students, teachers, guardians and above all the local people, a press release said.
