Guwahati: Candidates of Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) who have passed without grace marks on Monday holding a press meet at Gauri Sadan, Guwahati expressed their outrage to the Assam Education Department for giving priority to the students who have passed with grace marks over non-Grace candidates. They levelled Charges of mal-practice and corruption against the education department of Assam.

Thousands of Assam TET candidates who cleared the recently held TET exams said that almost 65-70% of the names mentioned in the list of meritorious candidates are of those who have passed with grace marks.

Speaking to media at the press conference some of the candidates who cleared the exams on merit said, "We studied hard to clear TET. We have a dream to become a teacher. The ad mentioned that the candidates have to qualify both papers separately obtaining 60 % and following that we cleared TET on merit basis and we all those who cleared TET on merit basis should get first priority."

They urged Assam Education Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to look into the matter and give the first preference for appointment to those who have cleared TET on merit.

They have also said that there has been no system of giving grace marks in any of the previous TET examinations.

The TET examination to fill 5746 posts was held on January 20 this year.

Of the total 12,032 successful candidates, as many as 7,417 candidates passed without grace marks while 4615 candidates were cleared with grace marks. According to the candidates who displayed details of the documents 1 to 4 has been given as grace marks to help candidates make to the list of successful candidates.
