Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council election to be held on January 20, 2022

After BJP, Congress announces names of candidates

GUWAHATI: After the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) announced the names of candidates who will be contesting in the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council election, the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Wednesday released the names of its candidates.

The election to the Thengal Kachari Autonomous Council will be held on January 20, 2022 while the counting of votes will take place on January 24, 2022. The last date for submission of nomination papers is December 31, 2021. Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place on January 1, 2022 while the last date for candidates to withdraw nomination is January 3, 2022.

The names of the candidates announced by the Congress are as follows - Nagabat Constituency (ST)- Sunil Regan; Borholla Constituency (General Women)- Bonti Bora Saikia; Madhapur Constituency (ST) Anil Kachari; Phulbari Constituency (ST) Ratul Saikia; Dihingia Constituency (ST)- Achinta Saikia; Titabar Constituency (ST)- Lakhyajit Hazarika; Samoguri Constituency(ST)- Akshay Jyoti Saikia; Baruajan Constituency(ST)- Kanram Kachari; Jalukonibari Constituency(ST)- Puneswar Saikia; Tamulbari Constituency(ST)- Lakheswar Hazarika; Thengal Kamar Gaon Constituency(ST)- Bipin Bora; Gelabil Constituency(ST)- Hiranya Bora; Kachomari Constituency(ST Women)- Jahnabi Saikia; Chawdang Pathar Constituency(ST)- Chaya Thengal; Chawdang Pathar Doyang Constituency(ST)- Utpal Thengal; Bangalmora(Pub-Dikrong) Constituency(ST)- Krishna Hazarika; Pavo (Laluk) Constituency(ST)- Mahendra Saikia; Lakhimpur East Constituency(ST Women)- Tulumoni Sonowal Borah; Bihpuria (South) Constituency(ST)- Raj Kumar Bora; Jakeipeluwa Harmoti Constituency(ST)-Apurba Hazarika; Rupohi Borgora Constituency(ST)-Mridu Paban Bora; while the name of the candidate for the Merbil Naharkotia Constituency(ST) has not been announced as yet.

Meanwhile, the BJP also announced the names of its candidates on Tuesday. The candidates are as follows - Nagabat (ST) constituency-Bipul Kachari; Madhapur (ST)- Pratap Kachari; Dihingia (ST)-Prakash Saikia; Titabor (ST) Banti Saikia; Samoguri(ST) - Pulak Kachari; Baruajan (ST)- Kumud Kachari; Jalukonibari (ST)-Shyamal Krishna Bora; Thengal Kamargaon (ST)- Haraprova Thengal; Gelabil(ST)- Mrinali Hazarika Saikai; Chawdang Pathar (ST)- Smritirekha Thengal; Chowdang Pathar Doyang (ST)- Padmeswar Saikia; Bangalmora(Pub-Dikrong) (ST)- Lekhan Bora; Pavo (Laluk)(ST)- Keshab Neog; Lakhimpur (East) (ST Women)- Jyoti Bora Saikia; Bihpuria (South)(ST)- Keshoram Bora; Rupohigor Para (ST)- Raju Saikia; Merbil Naharkatia (ST)- Mondip Bora.
