GUWAHATI: The third phase of Gunotsav 2023 was successfully completed on Saturday. It was held from February 15 to February 18 in eight districts of Assam, namely Bongaigaon, Cachar, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Dima Hasao, Goalpara, Morigaon, Nalbari, and also in Biswanath (part of Sonitpur district).

In the exercise, 11,56,318 students from classes I to IX were evaluated from 11,912 schools (government/provincialized schools, tea garden management schools, AdarshaVidyalayas, Tea Garden Model Schools, Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Avasiya Vidyalayas, etc.

During the evaluation process, IAS, IPS, IFS, ACS, APS, AFS, and other Grade I and II officers, took an active part as external evaluators. Similarly, ministers, MPs, and MLAs also took part in various schools as external evaluators. They interacted with the students, teachers, parents, guardians, mother groups, community members, and others.

Minister of Education, Tribal Welfare, Indigenous Faith, and Cultural Department Dr. Ranoj Pegu visited schools in the Morigaon district; Minister of Water Resources and Information and Public Relations Pijush Hazarika visited schools in the Morigaon district; Minister of Health and Family Welfare, Medical Education and Research, Science & Technology, and Information Technology Keshab Mahanta visited schools in Morigaon district; Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Food and Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, General Administration Department Ranjit Kumar Das visited schools in Dibrugarh district; Minister of Public Health Engineering, Skill Development, Employment and Entrepreneurship, and Tourism Jayanta Mallabaruah visited schools in the Nalbari district; Minister of Environment and Forest, Act East Policy, Welfare of Minorities Chandra Mohan Patowary visited schools in the Darrang district. The ministers interacted with students, teachers, parents, guardians, community members, and others during their visit.

Chief Secretary Paban Kumar Borthakur visited a school in the Morigaon district and interacted with students, teachers, parents/guardians, community members, and others. The external evaluators evaluated the performance of the students on the scholastic level in both skill (reading, writing, and numeracy/basic mathematical operations) and subject areas as well as other indicators of the schools.

The Gunotsav 2023 was conducted from January 18 to February 18 in three phases. In the three phases, a total of 44,530 schools and 41,27,907 students from classes I to IX have been evaluated.
