GUWAHATI: Amidst rising cases of Covid-19 in the city, thousands of devotees bid adieu to Goddess Durga by immersing her idols signifying the journey of the Goddess back to Mount Kailash after ten days of Navaratri in various river streams for the second day on Saturday.

According to the reports, as many as 40 idols were immersed at Pandughat on Saturday. A total of 61 idols were immersed in the ghat on Friday.

However, Kachamarighat had witnessed immersion of 126 idols this time, which is less than last year.

Amid scorching heat, devotees in large numbers attended Pandughat to watch the immersion programme, which was also attended by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma along with senior leaders of the party on Friday. A cultural programme was also organized in the ghat to mark the occasion.
