Train driver electrocuted in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A locomotive pilot of the Rangiya Division of the Northeast Frontier (NF) Railway, identified as Siba Saikia, died of electrocution on Tuesday night while on duty at the Guwahati Railway Station.

The incident took place when train No.15613 Guwahati-Murkongselek Lachit Express was standing at platform No.7. Saikia got electrocuted while conducting a locomotive check.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel rushed to the accident spot along with doctors immediately after the incident and found Saikia to be dead. His body was taken to Guwahati Medical College where an autopsy was performed.

According to NF Railway sources, Saikia's body will be taken to his home in Barpathar of Golaghat district. The sources said that all possible assistance if being extended by the NF Railway authorities.
