Training on Disaster Management inaugurated at Assam Administrative Staff College

GUWAHATI: A three-days training on disaster management, risk reduction and mass casualty for medical officers in Assam was inaugurated on Monday at Assam Administrative Staff College (AASC). The training programme was organised by Directorate of Health Services (DHS), in collaboration with Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) and inaugurated by Nobo Kumar Deka Baruah, ACS, Joint Secretary of Health & FW Department, Jyotshna Patgiri Medhi, ACS, Joint Secretary of Health & FW Department and Dr Rajib Kumar Sarma, Addl. Director of Health Services, Assam. A total of 40 Medical Officers across the State participated in the training which will be over on 20th November 2019, stated a press release.

The training programme was initiated to reduce risk during any kind of disaster in the State and so that the doctors can handle heavy flow of patients in the event of disaster. The training on Trauma would help the doctors in accident cases as the rate of accident trauma is increasing in recent days. The Resource persons from various organisations including ASDMA, Fire & Emergency Services, IDEA, Academy of Trauma, NDRF/SDRF will initiate the training and brief about the concept of Risk Reduction through Mass Casualty. There will also be a practical session on Trauma treatment and Mock Drill at Mahendra Mohan Chowdhury Hospital (MMCH) in Guwahati during the training.
