It is the end of an era, an era filled with love, affection, and support of our dearest Aita,Aruna Khaund. She was wife of Late Khagendra Nath Khaund, popularly known as ArunaBaideu. She passed away on 29th September 2021 at her residence in Guwahati. She was a highly educated lady and served as a subject teacher at Govt. Girls Higher Secondary and Multipurpose School in Dibrugarh from where she retired in 1991. Her two children, Arunjeet Khaund, retired as General Manager,Gail (India) Ltd and her daughter Alokananda Sengupta retired as Chief Scientist from NEIST, Jorhat.

She was an avid reader, an amazing cook, an ardent cricket fan, technologically up to date, always keen to learn and explore. She set an example to live our life with our heads held high; making us confident to face the world and tackle all challenges with a brave heart. Although she was our grandmother, she played the role of a parent and a best friend. Much ahead of her times, she was a progressive and an independent woman, and was one of the few trained Civil Defense Lady Officers (1965) of that time.

She introduced us to the world of sports - badminton, table tennis, lawn tennis and swimming. She created an environment at home where we could develop interests in every sphere of life. She was also quite active in social circles where she quietly worked for women empowerment during her times. We remember her narrating us stories of how she worked for education of under – privileged girls and women and supported them for their overall development. She was an excellent knitter, she gifted us several beautiful handmade sweaters right till the very end, which will always remain our most prized possession.

Her teachings to always pass a smile and be kind to everyone is what we will always carry along with us. The sense of respecting every relationship and the importance of family in today's world is one of the greatest life's lessons that she taught us. We hope to have imbibed all the goodness she had, to show to the world now.

On the day of her Adhya Shraddha, we pay homage and on behalf of the entire family and friends, we thank each one of you, who remembers her and has been touched by her love, strength, wisdom, and beauty of her soul.
