Two Assam Civil Service officers’ suspension extended

GUWAHATI: Two ACS (under suspension) officers, Roktim Baruah and Anupam Choudhury, were convicted of physically assaulting the general public in Hojai on September 28, 2022 following which they were suspended from service on September 29, 2022. Based on the intensity of the crime, their suspension has been extended for another three months.

The Personnel Department issued two different notifications for the extension of their suspension. Roktim Boruah, the then Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Hojai, was put under suspension w.e.f. September 29, 2022 on the charge of physically assaulting the general public in Hojai. And the departmental proceeding against Roktim Baruah led to the extension of their suspension for another three months w.e.f. December 31, 2022. The review committee constituted for inquiry of the case recommended further extension of the suspension period w.e.f. March 29, 2023.

Anupam Choudhury, the other ACS officer and the then Deputy Commissioner of Hojai, was also suspended on September 29, 2022 for physically assault. His suspension period has also been extended for another three months w.e.f. March 29, 2023 by the review committee appointed for enquiring his case.
