GUWAHATI: Recruitment activities by the banned outfit ULFA (I) in Assam have caused concern. The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) had directed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to probe the matter of recruitment drive by the ULFA (I).

According to sources, the NIA has intensified its investigation in this matter and has registered a case. NIA teams are in touch with local police in Dibrugarh, Tinsukia and Sivsagar districts and with the local people of these areas.

Sources said that NIA was trying to gather information and details about the youths who have joined the outfit in recent times. It has been claimed that the newely-recruited youths have begun their training in camps in Myanmar. The NIA is investigating all these reports.
