GUWAHATI: The State Transport Department has warned the vehicle owners that if they ply their vehicles without their up-to-date fitness certificates after October 15, 2023, the department would take such vehicles unfit, seize them, and send them for scrapping.

Assistant Transport Commissioner Gautam Das said that the government has issued a three-month deadline from July 15 to October 15 this year for updating the fitness certificates of all vehicles. “We have reduced the daily fine for not updating fitness certificates of vehicles during the three-month period. The existing amount of fine is Rs 50 per day, but we have reduced it to Rs 10 for three-wheelers, Rs 15 for commercial tractors, Rs 20 for four-wheelers, and Rs 25 for heavy vehicles,” Das said, and appealed to all vehicle owners to avail of the offer and update all documents on their vehicles.
