GUWAHATI: The exercise of casting votes by the absentee voters in Kamrup Metro Election District started on Saturday and will continue till April 5. The absentee voters include – persons above the age of 80 years, Divyangjans and COVID positive persons. The Election Commission has made 35 teams with five members each to register votes through postal ballots from the absentee voters in four constituencies of the Kamrup Metro Election District.

Each team includes a micro observer, two polling officers, one videographer and one police personnel. The teams will visit door-to-door to register votes through postal ballot.

It is to be noted that, a total of 3,000 absentee voters have been identified in Kamrup Metro. As many as 6 teams will deputed to register votes at Jalukbari, 11 teams at Dispur, 8 teams at Guwahati East, and 10 teams at Guwahati West.
