Watch Aamis & Other Award-winning movies at 3rd Edition of GIFF from Tomorrow in Guwahati

Guwahati is gearing up to host the 3rd Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) 2019 from tomorrow 31st October 2019. Aamis will be premiered at GIFF on 2nd November at 3:30 pm. Director of Aamis Bhaskar Hazarika already won the hearts across the globe. Bulbul Can Sing an Assamese movie by Rima Das will also be screen at GIFF.

The film bonanza will get ahead with the opening film Charcoal (Komur) by Esmaeel Monsef. During the week-long festival at two venues – Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra and Jyoti Chitaban, around 100 films will be screened.

The state government has allotted Rs 1.94 crore for the festival with a cost of Rs 40,000 spent for every film to be screened at the festival the legendary Polish filmmaker Krzysztof Zanussi will be attending the event as the chief guest at the opening ceremony of the festival.

Krzysztof Zanussi is also a Polish theatre director, producer, and screenwriter. His school diploma film ‘Death of a Provincial’ 1968 won an award in Venice, Mannheim, Valladolid, and Moscow in 1967.

Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF) was organized for the first time by Jyoti Chitraban in association with DBH Regional Government Film and Television Institute with support of the Government of Assam which was held from 28th October to 2nd November 2017.

A total number of 72 films from more than 30 countries were screened at the festival.

The second edition of the festival was held from 25th October to 31st October 2018, where ASEAN countries were the Region of Focus. Over 100 films from more than 40 countries were screened during the festival.

During the event, the potential of the festival was measured with the overwhelming response and attention that was gathered. With the same spirit and inspiration, GIFF returns back with greater circumference, vigour starting from 31st October to 6th November 2019.

This time Iran will be the Country in Focus, a total number of 100 films from more than 65 countries will be screened in the festival which will be divided into various sections.

The 3rd Guwahati International Film Festival is one of the most remarkable and all set to Make everyone Laugh, Cry, Scream and Sing Together from 31st October 2019 to 6th November 2019.
