GUWAHATI: In view of ongoing work on the maintenance of the water pipelines, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation has announced that the water supply will be disrupted for a few days. The Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) has announced that the disruption of water supply in some parts of Guwahati is expected to continue until September 4 due to technical problems. They had earlier announced that the water supply would remain disrupted for two days, that is, September 1 and 2, and have now extended the duration of the same.
These disruptions were part of the ongoing process of modifications and the shifting of the existing 450-mm-diameter water pumping main station from the Panbazar Water Treatment Plant to the Sarania Reservoir. The new notification mentions that the work that started on the night of September 1 is now expected to be completed by the night of September 4. The list of areas facing problems because of the disruption of the water supply includes Chatribari, Paltanbazar, Rehabari, Kacharibasti, B Barua Road, Ulubari, Gandhibasti, South Sarania, Lachit Nagar, Bhangagarh, Rajgarh, and Pub Sarania.
