GUWAHATI: AGP president Atul Bora has said that they will keep their regional character intact despite their alliance with the BJP.

Interacting with the media at the fag-end of 2020, Bora said, "Against the backdrop of the year of hardship – 2020, we hope that the 2021 will be a year of prosperity. We will never betray the people of the State. We've made plans for the New Year with new blood through introspection of the foregone years marked with mistakes. Seeking forgiveness for the mistakes done in the past and taking pledge not to repeat same mistakes in the future, we need to make stride. In the past we did promise that couldn't be met. "On problems like deportation of foreigners from the State, we failed to pacify people of the State our limitations in solving those problems. Had we made the people of the State know our limitations in solving those problems, they would've forgiven us. We don't dream big now, nor do we make others to dream big. "The alliance with the BJP isn't based on personal interests." Working president of the party Keshab Mahanta said, "We'll go ahead by taking the pragmatic aspects based on reasons."
