West Guwahati Police District Avert a Suicide

GUWAHATI: West Guwahati Police District (WGPD) personnel from Jalukbari PS averted a woman from meeting a trafic end. The police personnel prevented a woman from committing suicide. The information was received on the Distress Helpline.

The Assam Police had launched a helpline number a couple of months ago. Distress calls are received in the toll-free numbers. As soon as the police get a call from someone who is getting suicidal tendencies or any of their friends or family, a police team is sent to rescue the person and to dissuade him/her from committing suicide.
