GUWAHATI: Guwahati Mayor Mrigen Sarania has assured the residents of Guwahati of supplying clean drinking water within two or three days.

The supply of turbid water in the city led to a hue and cry. In search of safe drinking water, the residents collect water from taps that yield contaminated water (yellowish) that is more harmful as treatments like loading with potash alum cannot get rid of the contaminants.

Talking to The Sentinel, the Mayor said, "The filters had thick deposits of sand and stones at their bottoms. We have changed them with new ones. The filters will take some time to work properly."

The affected areas are Chandmari, Uzan Bazar, Kharghuli etc.
