A rare scene in Dighalipukhuri!

Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI: The picture above shows the Lesser whistling ducks in the Dighalipukhuri in Guwahati, which is very rare. People here have never witnessed such a scenic beauty in the pond ever before.

As though the nature is trying to make people understand the sensitivity of several burning issues relating to biodiversity. As the coronavirus outbreak continues to escalate, the situation has compelled the mankind to remain indoors. While people are inside their homes for self isolation to fight against the COVID-19, the wildlife has found a new space to roam freely in the manmade city in the absence of any noise and air pollution.

The picture shows Dighalipukhuri with hundreds of Lesser whistling ducks playing in it. However, an intrinsic view into the fact raises a question as to whether the concrete civilization is responsible for the destruction of biodiversity.

With the nationwide lockdown enforced to fight COVID-19, the busy roads and the noisy city have become calm like never before. The struggling situation to save the mankind has itself become a question as to whether we’re heading towards an unforeseen drastic change.
