Woman riding Rapido bike killed in road mishap in Guwahati

GUWAHATI: In a horrific accident, a 30-year-old woman riding pillion on a Rapido motorcycle was killed on the spot on Tuesday night after being hit by a truck. The victim was identified as Runu Das, a resident of Mathgaria area under Noonmati police station. She was married to Prasanta Das of Fatasil, Ambari. According to police the woman was coming from Basistha towards Lokhra in a Rapido bike when the bike lost control at a speed breaker and fell down on the busy road in front of the Sarusajai stadium. A truck (AS02-AC-7662) which was coming from behind ran over her killing her on the spot. On the other hand the rider of the app-based bike taxi service Subrata Sarkar was injured and was admitted to the Gauhati Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition. Police have registered a case (no 2263/21) u/s 279/338/304(A)/427 of the IPC at Basistha Police station.
