Youth flees home on the eve of marriage in Basistha, Guwahati

GUWAHATI: A bride’s family experienced a triggering incident when the groom allegedly fled and hid just two days prior to their wedding, which was supposed to be on May 10.

The groom is identified as Nayanmoni Saikia. He fled his residence in Basistha on May 8 and has since been missing.

According to a source, both the boy and the girl got engaged at the girl’s place in Sootea, Sonitpur, a few weeks ago. The soon-to-be groom then disappeared without any information. After a search, the bride’s family found him in the Geetanagar area and handed him to the police. The would-be groom is kept at Basistha police station, and further proceedings are going on.
