Assamese cinema in Lovala Festival, award for Baharul

GUWAHATI, July 8: ‘Ro’dor Chithi’ of Altertive Cinematics, a film produced by Ikramul Mazid and directed by Baharul Islam, has been selected for screening at the competition category at the Lovala Intertiol Film Festival slated from September 1 to 5, 2016 at Mumbai.

The film will be screened on the day two of the festival. This film has been chosen from over 100 films of the world. It has actors Zubin Garg, Angarag Mahanta and Bhagirathi. This film has already bagged the Excellence in Cinema Award in the Cada Intertiol Film Festival. ‘Barsharanya’, another film produced by Ikramul Mazid, bagged the best award in environment category at the Mexico Intertiol Film Festival.

Meanwhile, Baharul Islam will be honoured with the Rashtriya Ras Rang Sanman by Ras Kala Mancha, Harya, Rohtok, in memory of Habib Tanveer, an intertiolly reputed drama persolity. The award will be presented on July 28, 2016.

Islam already has to his credit Habib Tanveer Award (Bihar), Harisingh Porchhai Award (Jabbalpur), Manohar Singh Award (New Delhi) and Sarada Kanta Bordoloi Award (Assam). He is the founder of Sigal, a front-running drama troupe in Assam. He acted in and directed over 50 dramas.
