GUWAHATI, Sept 25: The Nikhil Bishnupriya Manipuri Mahasabha (NBMM) has alleged that bribing those at the helm of affairs into ensuring the posts of Bishnupriya Manipuri language teachers for LP and ME schools has been rampant in the State.

Talking to The Sentinel over telephone, NBMM secretary general Udai Sinha alleged: “We’ve heard that Dispur has authorized the Bishnupriya Manipuri Development Council (BMDC) to prepare the list of candidates for Bishnupriya Manipuri language teachers. Our question is: how come a development council prepare the list of teachers which, essentially, is the job of the department concerned? We heard that BMDC chairman and former MLA Kartik Se Sinha and a section of BMDC members are very much involved in the selection of candidates.”

The NBMM secretary general said: “The Bishnupriya Manipuri Language Teaching Training Diploma Holders’ Association chief adviser Gopi Das Sinha has already issued a notice recently appealing to the community members not to pay money to anybody in the me of getting jobs of Bishnupriya Manipuri language teachers. He also made it a point that the list of Bishnupriya Manipuri language teachers has already been prepared. This notice smacks of that there has been bribery in the selection process.”

Sinha further said that the BMDC is going to complete five years this month, and as such it has to be formed afresh. “There has been no development under the present committee of the council. This committee has to be changed with a new one so as to speed up the stalled development works of the council,” he said.

Despite repeated attempts, BMDC chairman Kartik Se Sinha could not be contacted for their response to the allegation.
